Steve Arceri plays acoustic guitar and sings. On recordings he also plays drums, bass, keyboards, electric guitars, and percussion, and sometimes his friends play various instruments. His music has been described and compared. His lyrics tend to deal with existential and social issues. Solo since 1994, he made four cassettes in the late nineties and has made four CD's so far this century. Along the way he played in several bands, a few of which also made recordings. Arceri has performed in Texas and much of the US, and is looking forward to adventures in the Northeast and in Europe soon. He lives in Austin.

Chronology

1991 Dallas, Texas. Sings in Circling Poets with Grant Kuneman and Andrew Hanmer, with Gram Lebron, Jason Lowry and David Wingo taking turns on guitar. First performance at Slipped Disk.

1992 plays drums in Today's Forecast with Falumi Allamly, Chris Dille, Matt Smith and Jason Brickey, and also in Inspector Vegetable with Kuneman, Wingo, and Chad Hopper. Both bands play shows at Common Ground and Easy Street Theater.

1993 plays early songs for friends (lyrics found by Chris Koeberle).

1994 records one-off cassette demo to land first solo gig, the inaugural show at Cafe Brazil in Deep Ellum. Eponymous four-song demo recorded to 2-track by Mike Arceri. Second show at Durutti Column, radical infoshop on Lower Greenville. Plays and sings in unnamed acoustic group with Kuneman, Erik Kline and Chris Benton. Moves to Austin, records and loses another one-off demo tape.

1995 Treed, 7-song cassette (instrumental), recorded to 4-track by Wingo. Plays first Austin gig, at Hole in the Wall. Plays briefly in Bean with Mitch Greer and Allamly (in Dallas).

1996 Girth, 12-song cassette, recorded to 4-track by Wingo.

1997 Cracks, 8-song cassette, recorded to 2-track by Chris Bultman and mixed to cassette by Steve. Forms the Lambs with Jason Andres, McKee Andrus, Dave Keen, and Keith Yarbrough.

1998 The Lambs Not for Resale recorded by Jeff Mahal. Steve records Underwater Spiders, lo-fi experimental project (unreleased). Records Shootout at the Dada Corral in collaboration with Jon Riehl.

1999 Lambs disband. Forms hurt a fly with Jason Andres and Keith Yarbrough, with Chris Hillen and Curtis Dashner taking turns on bass.

2000 hurt a fly Trapped on the Runway, five song CD recorded by Jamie Estrada, inaugural release of Two Sheds Records (now Tight Spot Records).

2001 hurt a fly Your Position Relative to a Collapsing Galaxy, 80 minute CD recorded by Dashner to half-inch tape. hurt a fly disbands.

2002 Reverse Vision, 13-song CD, recorded by Steve to 4-track at home.

2003 Eyes Like Poisoned Birds, 12-song CD, recorded by Steve to 4-track at home. Texas mini-tour with the Envy Corps. Opens for John Vanderslice and Beulah at Emo's in Austin. Midwestern US tour.

2004 Southeastern US tour.

2005 The Entire City, 15-song CD, recorded to one-inch tape and mixed to quarter-inch by Matt Smith. Forms This Dog's a Lion with Brandi DiPietro and Vincent Durcan.

2006 This Dog's a Lion tours the Western US with Woozyhelmet and Jana Hunter.

2007 This Dog's a Lion disbands. Begins recording Sackcloth Standard with Matt Smith at Hot Tracks.

2008 is fuzzy.

2009 finishes mixing Sackcloth Standard. Northwestern US mini-tour. Performs ritual for Leisure Tourniquet Equinox Mish-mash. Stays at Echowood, an intentional community southeast of Austin. Returns to Austin.

2010 releases Sackcloth Standard. Performs for the New Media Art and Music Summit, presented by Church of the Friendly Ghost at United States Art Authority in Austin. Learns to build cigar box guitars and make tape loops. Introduces alter-ego solo project Quinotaur. Goes to college.

2011 Prepares to record backlog of three dozen songs. Continues work on a book about qabalistic astrology. Continues college. Collaborates on new projects with imaginative friends.
